Another week flys by...omgoodness this year seems to be creeping by incredibly fast doesnt it.
Between study, school and normal "mummy" stuff I have been super glad to have my thermie.
So this week, although I havent cooked a whole lot its been enough!!
Monday night...do you know the week has been so hectic I dont even remember what I cooked. LOL.
Sunday, I know was Silverside, it was so tender, I will never boil a silverside again!
Its been more about cooking for the kids school lunches cinnamon scrolls, apple and cinnamon scrolls, chocolate cake, 30 seconds to mix....omg how good is that.
The funniest thing this week, was my GM trying to chop tomatoes in the Thermie, yes he actually used it, even if he did turn the tomatoes into puree!!
Good try though, good try.
Stay tuned for more family adventures with the Thermie

Welcome to a new world.....of thermomix
Thermomix.....nothing that it cant do.
Okay well maybe some things...lol
I love my thermomix, its name is Thermie (original I know). 2 weeks Thermie has been in our life. Since the first moment I seen the demonstration, I knew I had to have one. A couple of convincing arguments later with the husband and I was able to purchase one.
I have found pages on Facebook, a community full of recipes and a kitchen full of fun.
The best thing, well one of the best things, is its super easy too clean. AND it uses less dishes to prepare, everything goes in the one place to chop and cook. Fan-freakin-tastic.
So far I have cooked......lemon custard, bread rolls, chicken and brown rice soup, baked chocolate cheesecake (twice because the first one was a tragedy) pastry, beef pie ( with the pastry), apple pie slice, caramel slice, chicken catchittorie risotto, bechamel sauce, cheese sauce, beef cassarole with herb scones, strawberry sorbet....
I think thats it. Oh theres been snickerdoodles as well, they went down a treat.
As you can tell I have been a busy one, Ive got a few dishes that I want to cook, they are on my to do list. With study stepping back up and a move at the end of the year. Things are hectic here.
THANK GOODNESS for Thermie!

Oh how I love thee ...Offspring
Dont you love it, I love it, Offspring....omg Dr Nina, she is so awesome, the talking in her head, randomisation...if that is even a word...lol
Love it, and her sense of self style...shes just so asssure of herself, in her sense of style, meanwhile in her head its like an atmosphere of chaotic random thought processes. Great, love it, and that is all!!

Halfway through.....
Halfway, thats right.......I am halfway through my brain frying..lol.
No, seriously I am halfway through my course, thigh deep in maths equations and an essay thesis, which is really something to wrap my head around let me tell you!!
Enjoying my kids at school time a bit more, there is possibly no way that I would get all this study done with 50, 000 mummy tasks to do, although I do still manage to cook something for afternoon tea most afternoons..which little mister 5 just loves.
Im enjoying watching the changes over some of them this year, although miss 7 going on 13 gets very upset when she hears me talking about going to school. I think she likes me being home so much that it seems wrong for me to do something else.
Oh, in case you hadnt noticed, although Im sure you have I havent made my dress yet, I had to buy one last minute, oh how I miss my sewing machine, apart from hemming some jeans I havent been able to do anything....study just consumes my time, Im hoping that I get a bit better at the study bit, so I can fit some sewing in.
Have you been watching the voice, OMG seriously the talent of some of those individuals is mind BLOWING.....makes the hairs on my arms stand up ....love it.
Loving how life is working right now, kind of all playing out like I had hoped, with alot of hard work of course and some superglue of the loving kind. But, I dont think I would want it any other way
Ciao

The Study .....
Okay, so the last three weeks I have been studying an external course at USQ to prepare myself for studying nursing next year.
OMgoodness do I feel like Ive bitten off more than I can chew right now, yesterday I spent like 3 hours on one question! I was confused, frustrated and felt like a complete dumb head..and yes that is completely a technical term in this house, here I am carrying on like a chicken with my head chopped off when I realised that in this situation I am always telling the children to walk away and come back to it, take a break from staring at it.
Well thats what I did, and yay for me it worked. I wouldnt say that I am completely one hundred percent certain that I got it completely accurate but I tried my best and hey isnt that what counts, and certainly what I tell my children everyday!!

The Dinner Dress
Searching, searching for the perfect dress for the dinner we have for my hubbys work at the end of the month. Finally I found it, only to realise it is overseas and there is no way on earth it will get here in time for the end of March. Disgruntled. Thinking about wearing a paper bag, then it dawns on me......possibly I could make it...I find the perfect inspiration picture. Then a link to the perfect pattern. Off to spotlight I go, only to find that the pattern has not been released in Australia yet. Finally I found another pattern..thank goodness, now in search of the right material.
A hefty sum later I have everything I need, except the courage to sew the dress. Thinking maybe I will sew it in calico first, to make sure it fits and tweak the bits that need tweaking.....

The inspiration picture.......of course not a black one for me. Something different....just wait and see. I might post a picture of my completed one...MAYBE

Oh, my poor unused brain
Today I started my Tertiary Preparation Program through USQ. Thank goodness I decided to do this before trying a demanding diploma or bachelor. My brain has used parts that have been dormant for many, many years cobwebs had turned into concrete...lol.
Okay, so maybe a slight exaggeration there but you get my point I reckon.
Normally when I'm reading instructions I skim through them, sometimes Ill go back later just to refresh...after today if some of these equations don't engrave themselves into tissue inside my brain then I know Ive done my best to make them!
Really what I want to do is finish Miss 11s doll bed. But prioritising will have to be done and time during the day scheduled a bit more so I can get everything done that I need to.
I think its just what I needed though, I was seriously going stir crazy having nothing to do like clockwork every week. Hoping this stimuli gives my brain the wake up it needs after so many years of staying at home and watching all the kids shows with my little ones.

Apparently I can do woodwork too!!
On the weekend I attempted making a wooden doll bed for my daughters blythe doll. I have never used a circular saw or a power drill (something I have yet to master). I finished the bed, might of taken me a few more hours than it should of and not exactly perfect, but I think I did pretty well for my first effort. Ive painted it white and made the mattress but I want to complete the bedding before I give it to her, I think she knows Im up to something but Ive been very good at throwing her off scent. She thinks its for her two younger sisters, I didnt fib I am making beds for her little sisters too. Well really just upgrading but for them it will be exciting enough to have a new beds to play with.
I really enjoyed making it, infact Im looking at making a few more pieces, just somewhere to store blythe doll accessories and outfits, organization for toys I love it.

The Laundry
Omg, the washing in my house is phenomenal, I mean of course it is there is 10 people living here. Its not that theres alot of it, its the chaos its in. Heaps of bench spaces in my laundry atm, when we first moved in here I thought that would be great, let me tell you I was wrong.
Benches get cluttered with whatever the kids want to store there, hubbys tools everywhere even the laundry cupboards are randomised chaos. DRIVES me fruity. They just cant get it through their skulls that its the place that I want to have clean so I can do the washing with organisation and ease.
Time to research some portable solutions that will work if we move....oh pinterest here I come :)

Please pray with me
Today is one of the hardest days my husband and I have had in a while. A few hours ago he got a call from his mum in Thailand, his dad has had a massive stroke and everytime he regains consciousness he has another stroke, things are not looking so good for him.
Now, we have to sit and wait.....to see whether he can get past this, we are worried, so worried. Mum over there all by herself trying to keep it together, hoping that she has someone to support her through this. I dont pray often but I am now, praying that Dad gets through this, that he doesnt leave mum. That we can give her whatever she needs.
Im praying so hard.

The First Week of School
Today is the 3rd day in the first week of my changed life. All my children at school. 6 hours a day of no one but me unless I choose to be social. And I really do like my bubble, but normally it has kids in it. The house is quiet, almost too quiet. I forget what time it is, no little person to remind me its lunch time. Luckily the older two get home from high school so I know its time to get the little ones. I have just potted around, watched a few movies, it has been raining so washing is a bit out of the question.
I want to organise my craft room again but I havent found the urge to get in there. I'm feeling a bit lost but Ive been told that its normal to feel that way. I'm sure it will get easier and I will enjoy it after a couple of weeks. I hope so anyway

Really, Im over the drama
Arrgghhh family, sometimes you love em other times they drive you truly mental, make you want too lock myself in a padded room and chant until I can only hear my own voice echoing in my head.
Unfortunately thats not something that I can do, so I listen, I offer advice comfort as much as I can and generally keep any negative feelings to myself, because really that isnt going to help any situation.
Sure, there are other people in my life that I spend regular time with, of course there is especially when you live interstate. But, are they a replacement, hell no, thats such a dumb statement to make, we are blood, and more than that I have known you all your life, cared for you. Watched your children being born....nothing can ever even come close to holding a candle to our bond. Silly Girl.
If you think Im just going to sit here in my house and mope with you on the phone about how empty I feel instead of making the best out of the situation that I can, well you dont know me very well at all.

Christmas, New Years and everything else in between!
I love Christmas, its such a lovely time of year, even if the shopping is crazy. Time for family and friends, lazy days, summer bbqs, it is just such a giving time.
New Years Eve, now normally its just bbq and the males of the house are very tipsy.
This year, I tried something different. A dinner party, turned out to be 6 couples sharing a great meal and a whole lot of fantastic conversation, I loved it it was great turns out I really love to entertain, well like that anyway not the big parties where you cant really talk to everyone, the intimate gathering where you can really talk to people.
Then we had miss 4th eldest childs birthday, turned 11. I decided to go out on a limb and buy her a blythe doll. she absolutely loves it, has called it Sunny, I somehow knew it was going to be the perfect thing for her.
Husbands birthday next, and then mine, I will be the ripe old age of 33.....lol.
Then school goes back and the youngest mcmillan starts school, that will be a huge day for us....
